SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Programs - Redmond, WA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for health efforts to advance the mental health of the U.S.. One of its duties is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are centers who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medications prescribed are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment facilities in Redmond are programs who are legally permitted to give out the medicines used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also get ancillary services aside from medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehabilitation program can get their initial certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab programs accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehabilitation program is approved to operate, it must be re-certified each year or every 3 years depending on the type of certification that was given.
