Medicaid is an insurance program for low-income households that because of the Affordable Care Act must cover basic substance abuse rehabilitation services. Medicaid is currently the single largest payer for mental health treatment services in the U.S., and is beginning to play a significant role in the reimbursements of treatment for drug and alcohol treatment.
