SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Centers - Athens, WI.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of health efforts to promote the behavioral health of the U.S.. One of its duties is the oversight of opioid treatment programs, which are centers that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medicine prescribed are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab facilities in Athens are programs who are legally allowed to dispense the drugs used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive ancillary benefits in addition to medication like psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid treatment program can get their initial approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation programs authorized by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehab program is certified, they need to get re-certified every year or every three years depending on the kind of certification that was granted.
