The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for health efforts to promote the behavioral health of the U.S.. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid treatment programs, which are programs who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Drug administered are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted individuals.
