The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of efforts to advance the mental health of the United States. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid treatment programs, which are programs which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Drug prescribed are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent people.
