The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation. One of its obligations is the supervision of opioid treatment facilities, which are programs that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine prescribed are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent individuals.
