SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Centers - Eastman, WI.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the United States. One of its duties is the oversight of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are centers which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medications prescribed are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment facilities in Eastman are programs who are legally permitted to distribute the medicines used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive ancillary benefits in addition to medicine such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehab program can get their basic approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment programs authorized by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid treatment program is certified, it must be re-certified every year or every three years contingent upon the type of certification it has been granted.
