SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Facilities - Merrill, WI.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to promote the mental health of the United States. One of its obligations is the supervision of opioid treatment programs, which are programs that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medications prescribed are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent people. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation centers in Merrill are programs that are legally permitted to distribute the medications used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also get ancillary benefits in addition to medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab facility can receive initial certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab facilities accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehab program is approved to operate, it must be re-certified every year or every three years depending on the kind of certification it has been granted.
