SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Programs - Prentice, WI.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to promote the behavioral health of the United States. One of its obligations is the supervision of opioid treatment facilities, which are programs that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medications prescribed are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted people. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation centers in Prentice are programs that are legally permitted to dispense the medications used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive auxiliary services in addition to medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab program can get their initial certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment programs accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehabilitation center is approved to operate, it must be re-certified every year or every 3 years contingent upon the type of accreditation it has been granted.
