The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for health efforts to promote the mental health of the nation. Drug given are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation facilities in Radisson are programs who are officially permitted to distribute the medications used in MAT being they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also get ancillary services aside from medication like psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid treatment center can get their initial approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation facilities accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehab facility is certified, they need to get re-certified every year or every three years contingent upon the kind of accreditation that was granted.
