The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of health efforts to advance the mental health of the nation. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are centers which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications given are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent clients.
