SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Centers - Whitewater, WI.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the United States. One of its responsibilities is the administering of opioid treatment programs, which are programs who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine administered are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent people. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment programs in Whitewater are programs that are legally allowed to give out the medicines used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also get auxiliary benefits in addition to medicine such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid treatment program can receive initial approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab facilities authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehab facility is certified, it must be re-certified every year or every three years contingent upon the kind of certification it has been given.
