DWI clients in rehab need specific requirements met to satisfy the conditions of their sentencing. Treatment programs that help fulfill these court requirements and terms, which are typically more lenient than traditional sentencing such as heavy fines and incarceration, are offered in Advent to provide alcohol education, group counseling, and additional evaluation for severe drug or alcohol problems.
Drug and Alcohol Education is an essential treatment tool used at rehab programs catering to DWI offenders. There are a few different levels of alcohol education and this can differ by state. Level I education usually include 12 hours of group education related to the effects of drugs and/or alcohol. This is the what a person with a single conviction or someone under 21 will usually be required to do. Level II courses would consist of both education and group therapy in a program which is approved by the courts. How long an individual will be required to participate in therapy depends on a few considerations, which can be, for example, how many DWI's the offender has had, and the seriousness of the violation. Ordinarily, individuals will be required to take the Level II classes and therapy unless their blood-alcohol content level was very low when they were stopped and there weren't any other significant infractions when the individual was arrested.
