Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Facilities - Mount Storm, WV.

One of the outpatient treatment alternatives for people in Mount Storm struggling with opioid abuse and addiction is opioid maintenance therapy. Licensed centers and doctors are certified to administer specific meds to opioid dependent people, many of which are opioids also and are habit forming. In low amounts the user doesn't feel high but also doesn't experience severe cravings and is not experiencing opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first drug used for this reason, but there are a few more options to select from.

Methadone is an opiate and is meant to be taken at an out-patient clinic certified to dispense the drug, which is taken daily in liquid or pill form. The price of the med is approximately $150 monthly. Buprenorphine is also an opioid-based med, and is a pill often taken one day on, one day off. But unlike Methadone which can only be given in highly well-regulated medical centers, Buprenorphine can be and is prescribed and dispensed in doctor's offices. The cost monthly of buprenorphine is around just under $300 a month for the generic version of the med. There is also a version of buprenorphine containing the drug naloxone, that is a drug that reverses the effects of opioids. A person taking this formulation, also known as Suboxone, would find it harder to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It is also taken daily, and costs around $450 monthly. Naltrexone is another medication used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned it's an opioid blocker and isn't an opioid. There is an option to take this drug as a monthly shot, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents a person from feeling high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 per month.
