Medicare is a federal health insurance program that helps pay for medical healthcare services for people living in the U.S. who are either disabled or 65 and older. For individuals that do have Medicare and need addiction treatment in Points, Medicare will pay for certain treatment programs and treatment services. Medicare comes in different "Parts", with Parts A-D covering certain kinds of care.

Part D (Prescription Insurance) Medicare Part D covers drug and alcohol addiction medications. Including medications used for withdrawal symptoms during detoxification as well as medications used for maintenance therapy such as methadone or buprenorphine.
